After his successful released of the movies “The Devil Inside” and “Stay Alive”, William Brent is now on his way to release a new possessed doll-inspired movie that will send chills to your spine more than after you’ve watched “The Conjuring” and “Annabelle”.
Its official trailer has arrived and it gives us the exciting yet chilling concept of how “The Boy” will wreck our joy towards our love for dolls, attitude towards a strange thing and even our peaceful sleep at night. The movie will be released under STX Entertainment together with Lakeshore on January 22, 2016. It was decided before that the movie will supposed to be released on February 5, 2016 along with the movie “Hail! Caesar” and “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies”, Last March 5, 2015, “Box office” tweeted that the movie will be released on the updated said date.
The thrill started when Greta (Lauren Cohan from the Walking Dead), takes the job of a nanny to serve a British couple. But what makes it strange is that this couple is taking care of a life-sized doll, treating it like a real kid in order to cope with the death of their son.
They feed it, tucked it on its bed, change its clothes and any other human-like treatment. The couple left the mansion so Greta is on to take charge of the doll. Before Greta started to be the nanny of their “son” or the doll, they handed her rules that must not be violated towards the doll. Of course, as a normal person, you have this doubt if everything that is written under that rules is absolutely true. So what Greta did, she started to violate all the rules that are written, a series of disturbing and inexplicable events bring Greta’s worst nightmare to life, leading her to believe that the doll is actually alive.
Let’s claim that the doll is alive as what the official trailer has shown, I was wondering about the history of the doll, I mean the British couple’s son. What was the cause of his death? Is it his own family indeed who were the one who killed him? Probably not, because they were not going to treat any lifeless object just to cope with their son’s death if they were the ones who killed it. It can also be an incurable illness that killed the kid. As you can see, the British couple was lying on the bed-of-roses so obviously they do not have any conflict when it comes to financial medications but as I have said “incurable”, there were no treatment for that certain disease, money is not the issue. Or it might be an accident that happened during his childhood years. I don’t know. I was hoping that this movie will show a bit of flashback on the family’s life before everything has happened. And of course, Will Greta still is alive at the end of the story? Who knows?
