It’s my hobby to watch movies than reading the books they’re based from. For me, watching it satisfies my eyes better than just imagining it. Nothing’s better than seeing the action and the phasing of the scenes. The story is more alive than just words on the paper.

Here are my top 4 movies that are going to make you hold your breath as it did to mine:

  1. The Hurt Locker

The Hurt Locker is a movie about a U.S. Army Bomb Disposal Unit Leader Sergeant First Class William James whose job is to defuse bombs on site during the war. He replaced Staff Sergeant Matthew Thompson who was killed by a radio-controlled bomb or 155mm Improvised Explosive Device (IED). What makes this movie on top of my list is its suspense every time he’s going alone to get closer to the bomb just to defuse it. Watching him pull wires just to decommission a live bomb will make your heart stop.

  1. American Sniper

When he starts inhaling a large amount of air, you know he’s going to pull the trigger. Most of the sniper movies do the same but not as intense as this movie. American Sniper is another real-life based war movie of 2014 focusing on the life of U.S. Navy Seal Chris Kyle. He becomes one of the most lethal Snipers in the history of America killing an enemy sniper named “Mustafa” with a risky long distance shot of 2100 yards (The 8th longest sniper kill ever recorded). What made this movie holding your breath are the moments when he must judge the target by its threat, distance, and position while being pressured by the wind, humidity, and angle of the shot.

  1. Armageddon

Armageddon is a science-fiction and one of the most popular films back at 1998. It’s the story of the team of Harry Stamper, considered the best deep-sea oil driller in the world, who is contacted by NASA to launch in space and get his team to the raging asteroid that will hit the earth which will cause total extinction in 8 days. In his way to the asteroid, Harry and his crew will face a large amount of loss, space pressure, and challenges. His goal is to set foot in the Asteroid, drill an 800ft hole and place a nuclear bomb to be detonated to save the earth. We all know that there is no air in space so expect that you will be holding your breath when you see a man flying out his ship without a suit, or someone get hit by debris causing the helmet glass to break.

  1. The Call

This is a horror-suspense film story of a 911 phone operator Jordan Turner who receives a call from a girl who is getting kidnapped. Jordan will do her best to help and save the kidnapped girl through the phone while the police are on their way. I’m not going to spoil if she succeeds helping the girl. This movies was released on 2013 so I’m sure you can find a clear HD copy somewhere on the internet but I still suggest you buy the original DVD. This movie is full of suspense; it will scare your neighbor up to next week.

There you have it. 4 movies that will surely practice your breathing phase because of the intense suspense. I suggest before you watch these movies, check your respiratory and circulatory conditions.
